Making our Session FUN!
I am truly excited about our session as much as you are! I appreciate you choosing Julie Waters Photography to provide you with your beautiful family portraits. I will try my best to make our session as fun as I can. I try to shoot the personalities of everyone vs. the "cheesy" smiles that are only revealed when a goofy photographer asks us to show them.

The following are merely suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Here is everything you need to know to have a FANTASTIC session...

Solid Colors and Textures Usually Work The Best
Stripes and strong patterns are often distracting. Choose solid, complimentary tones and textures and be consistent with everyone involved in the photo. For example, avoid one person wearing white shoes and socks versus the rest wearing dark shoes and socks. The one wearing white shoes will be very noticeable and stick out from the rest of the group. This will require some advanced planning on your part! I can provide ideas or color swatches if you are having trouble selecting the right outfits.

Make Sure All Your Clothes Look Great From Head to Toe
Some of your images may be full-length so make sure clothes are ironed and shoes are clean. Bring your favorite accessory (hat, scarf, etc) to show off your favorite style. Short shorts and skirts do not photograph as well as they look in person. Again, consistency is key when planning our outfits. Avoid sleeveless/tank tops and spaghetti straps - the camera can add weight in areas we don't want it to.

Hair - To Cut or Not To Cut - Shave or Not To Shave...
There is no such thing as a "trim" right before a session. Schedule haircuts about two weeks prior to our session (same goes for color and highlights) This gives time for adjustments and to have it styled the way you would regularly style it. Rescheduling sessions because of a bad haircut is no fun!!

If you shave, shave. That goes for faces and legs! Retouching stubble is not an easy task!

Hands...and Feet
Make sure your hands are clean (no writing on them). Ladies, make sure your nails are ready. Here's your excuse for a manicure or a pedicure! Include the fingers and toes, especially if wearing sandals.

Make-Up and Jewelry...Keep it Natural
If you wear make-up, don't do anything unusual or over-the-top for your portraits. Make-up and jewelry should be kept how you normally would wear it.

Weather
Lighting plays a huge role in our portraits. If you have scheduled a 'location' session, I ask that you be flexible. My goal is to provide you with the best portraits possible, rescheduling the time or location due to weather conditions may be necessary.

Time-Frames
Please arrive for your session ten minutes early. I have reserved your session time especially for you. If you are unable to keep your appointment, kindly provide me at least a 24 hours notice so I can notify the next person on the waiting list. Please contact me if there is any question whether an appointment should be rescheduled.
A 50% deposit is due when you book your appointment. I can only reserve time slots once I receive your initial deposit. The remaining 50% is due when our session is complete. Payment is accepted on my website (www.juliewatersphotography.com), or in person by cash or check.

I will provide all edited portraits within 2-3 weeks after our session on a USB drive. I will provide 2 separate sized photos for use on most popular social media sites, websites, and slightly larger sizes for personal printing.

Final Prints
Prints are separate from your session fee. I have further resources if you would like to have the portraits printed. Please ask me for my Pricing List for prints. The time-frame to receive your final prints will vary.

AND Lastly...HAVE FUN!!
Don't be afraid to give me your silly, goofy side so that I can capture that smile and personality at the right moments. I will try my best to make this fun and entertaining, if you agree to go along with the ride.
